Construction and commissioning of our massive solar PV system on the roof of Acre Eatery at Camperdown Commons finished yesterday, just five working days after it began.

As construction continued last Friday, the Mayor of Inner West Council, Darcy Byrne, climbed on to the roof to have a look. Pictured here, L-R, is Brett Bidwell of Roland Lawrence Electrical, our solar installers; Councillor Anna York; our chairperson Kathy Bluff; the executive chef of Acre, Gareth Howard; and Councillor Darcy Byrne.

All 90 panels are up and almost running, giving us a total generation capacity of 36 kilowatts. That’s about seven times the size of a typical new Inner West solar PV system today, and one of the biggest arrays in our community.

Inner West Community Energy will own the system, and Acre Eatery will pay us for the renewable energy generated, which will provide our group with a bit of income to do more great work!

Remember: if you want to install solar at home, we’re here to help with advice on systems, pricing, metering and how to deal with power companies. Help us spread the word. Summer’s coming, so it’s a great time to go solar.
