This is a story you’ll read about here again and again. People in our community are concerned about climate change, they want to do something positive, and they recognise installing solar will save them money, too. So, when they can afford it, they ask for our help and get on with it.

That’s this story, from Dr Robert Coles of Hunters Hill, our first system in Hunters Hill and, at the time it was installed in April, our biggest ever system, at 38 solar panels. (We’ve since smashed that record. We’ll post on our new  biggest-ever system later when we get a chance to catch up with that household.)

Robert had been thinking about going solar for a few years. He wasn’t sure how long he would stay in the house but once he decided he wasn’t moving, he got in touch.

“I have a scientific background,” Robert told us. “I think climate change is real. I want to do something about it. And at the same time I believe in win-win situations so hopefully it’s a win for the environment and a win for us in terms of cutting our bills.”

Robert hunted around on the internet and found Inner West Community Energy. “From what I read on the website,” he says, “there were people who were very happy with things and it appeared to me that I could get independent advice that may assist me in getting the job done correctly.”

And that’s what we did our best to provide.

Robert got three quotes but Inner West Community Energy’s preferred installer, Brightside Solar and Electrical, was the only one who came to the house to check what might be involved before issuing a quote. That’s something we insist upon from all our three preferred installers.

Robert was “absolutely” happy with Brightside’s work. As you can see, it’s a pretty impressive system. It has 38 QCells solar panels, all with optimisers to boost output when some panels are shaded, and it runs through a premium-quality SolarEdge inverter.

If you know someone in the Inner West who is also concerned about the climate, and wants to go solar as part of their household response, message us. We’re here to help.

Thanks for your confidence in our group, Robert.
