Happy Solar Family: Lilyfield

Like many in the Inner West, Christie-Jane and Paul had been keen to install solar PV for some time, but as she has a full-time job, is a pilates teacher and an amateur basketball coach and he runs a business, life often got in the way.

Plus they’re raising two young kids.

But now, with our help, it’s done, and they have a huge, 28 panel solar PV system on the roof of their house just up the road from Leichhardt Oval in Lilyfield.

Why did they want to go solar? “Our electricity bills were getting really really high and also we’ve got two kids,” Christie-Jane says. “The world’s warming and we just wanted to do our bit for it, I guess. So not only to save money on our power bills but hopefully do something to leave the world in a better place.”

Paul adds: “Every bit that someone does counts. You just gotta take action versus just talking about what you could do for the environment. So that’s why we did it - for the power bills and for a better future.”

“It was helpful because quite often you get served a lot of ads through Instagram, like ‘Save on the solar rebate, call us’,” she says. “And they’re big chain companies that don’t come to your house, they just quote based on Google Earth images, and they call you and call you and harass you. And I had no idea. I’m still learning, with the solar app.

“It was nice that IWCE went over the quote and pointed out things that we might do a bit differently.”
